ANSWERING THE CALL & PROJECT REMEMBER—MISSOURI 2019

March 24TH-30TH, 2019

PROJECT REMEMBER—MISSOURI

Beginning March 24th, 2019, Blue Springs Police Officer and endurance athlete, Keegan Hughes and friends, will honor fallen Missouri and Kansas first responders while raising money for Answering the Call (501C3), by completing a 165-mile run in 7 days through Missouri in FULL DUTY UNIFORM. As he makes his way across the state, each day Officer Hughes and team will be meeting up with additional first responders, including Firefighters, EMT’s, and a variety of Law Enforcement divisions (Missouri State Highway Patrol, Sheriff’s Departments, and local Police Departments) to present flags of honor to the families of fallen first responders. The final leg of this incredible trek will be in honor of five Kansas fallen police officers. The event officially kicks-off at the Greene County Sheriff’s Department in Springfield, Missouri on Sunday, March 24th, and ends on Saturday, March 30th at Kauffman Stadium. There he will be delivering a game ball for the Kansas City Royals March 30th home game. Upon arrival at Kauffman Stadium, Officer Sarah Olson (Kansas City, MO PD) and Firefighter James Sparks (Kansas City, KS FD) both of whom are battling ALS will be given the game ball to deliver the ceremonial first pitch. In addition to the 7-day run and on the eve of the final day, the community is invited to come out and welcome Officer Hughes and friends back to the Kansas City area by participating in a family-friendly 5K. The 5K is open to all ages and will be held on Friday night, March 29that First Bible Baptist Church in Blue Springs.

ANSWERING THE CALL

Answering the Call was founded in 2015 to support all Kansas City metro area First Responders in a time of need. This 501 (c) (3) was established to link community support to local First Responders when they suffer a severe duty/non-duty related injury or illness. 100% of the donations they receive are used to assist these Kansas City area heroes. Answering the Call is a source of not only financial aid but a community awareness to support First Responders and their families.
