Press Release Polk County Sheriff's Office to Join Statewide Effort Against Impaired Driving
March 2025
The Polk County Sheriff's Office proudly announces its participation in the Missouri Department of Transportation's (MoDOT) Spring Impaired Driving Enforcement Campaign, running from March 14 to April 18, 2025. This initiative is aimed at preventing impaired driving and saving lives on Missouri roadways.
In 2024 alone, impaired driving was responsible for 131 deaths and 651 serious injuries on Missouri roads. The tragic fact is that these incidents are preventable. Impaired driving is not an accident; it's a crime.
Cpl. Hoover emphasizes, "Keeping our community safe is our top priority. This campaign is a crucial step in ensuring no family has to suffer the loss of a loved one to drunk or drugged driving. We are committed to doing everything possible to reduce these tragedies."
Throughout the campaign, Polk County deputies will intensify enforcement efforts through roving patrols and saturation patrols, targeting impaired drivers. Drivers found under the influence of drugs or alcohol will face the full extent of the law. The public is encouraged to make responsible choices, designate a sober driver, or use alternative transportation options when necessary.
Together, we can make a difference in reducing impaired driving fatalities and ensuring safer roadways for everyone. Let's work toward a future where every journey ends safely.
